Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA is a company with a history reaching the end of XIX century. Is the largest Polish oil and gas exploration and production company.We have gained great experience in the search of the hydrocarbon's deposits, the exploitation of gas and oil filds and gas transport and storage, especially regarding the area of Poland. A exploration and production segment provides exploration, including geophysical and drilling works, production and preparation of products for sale. Exploration works are carried out in Poland as well as overseas e.g. in Denmark, Egypt, Libya, Norway and Pakistan. PGNiG provides also activities related to the oil and gas production from the Norwegian Continental Shelf (the assumed begin of production – 1st h 2011).
Expertise and capacity
PGNiG as the only polish company has experience connected with using technologies of carbon dioxide sequestration. The technology of reinjecting acid gases has been introduced in 1996 on the gas field Borzecin and oil and gas field Kamien Pomorski. Acid gases, which are extracted on amine installation from the withdrawn gas, are reinjected underground. For more than 100 years PGNiG was able to successfully deal with the issues concerning acid gases withdrawal and uncontroled gas outflow. The experience concerning underground gas storage in depleted reservoirs has been gained during over 50 years of many UGS construction and operation.
