In order to investigate the economic feasibility of storing CO2 off-shore Mid-Norway it is important to collect cost elements associated with all phases of a storage operation. A CO2 storage operation can roughly be divided into an exploration and development phase, an operational phase and an abandonment phase. Since no detailed storage concept for the Norwegian case has been defined, a set of assumptions have been made on which the cost elements are based.
Examples of cost elements are: the cost of an exploration well, the cost of seismic surveys for a given area, the cost of pre-injection modelling, the cost of a sub-sea installation, the daily operational costs including monitoring activities and the cost of abandoning a storage site.
Cost elements for all phases of a storage project off-shore Norway were collected from literature and Norwegian petroleum industry. The collected cost elements will be used as input to techno-economical modelling in work task 2 and for estimating the cost associated with storing CO2 off-shore Mid-Norway.
